Laser and IPL hair removal uses light to destroy hairs in such a way as to inhibit their re-growth.

Based on the principle of selective absorption, the colour (melanin) in the hair absorbs the light beam and converts to heat. This destroys both, the hair follicle and shaft and will, in most cases, prevent future hair re-growth.

The cycle of hair growth has three distinct phases: growing, transition and resting phase. Light assisted hair removal will only successfully treat hairs in the growing phase and it is for this reason that multiple treatments are required.
