Dermal fillers are injections containing hyaluronic acid, a natural and essential component of the body. Due to the skin aging process hyaluronic acid biologically diminishes with time resulting in a loss of skin tone, volume and an increase in the appearance of wrinkles. Each year thousands of people world-wide receive wrinkle treatments with hyaluronic acid because it works, it is not as expensive as a face lift and it doesn’t involve any surgery.

How does it work? Dermal fillers are injected into the skin in areas where it needs to be plumped up again and made to look firmer. Over time, the substances are broke down by the body's enzyme systems and passed out of the body in the natural way. The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the volume of filler required for treatment. We always apply topical anaesthetic to make the procedure less comfortable. Before injections in the lips, a dental or lip block may be used, where a small amount of lignocaine (an anaesthetic like the ones used by dentists) is injected into the lip area to help to numb them prior to treatment.
