FAQs

IPL hair removal back

Q Am I suitable?

A: The IPL system can be fine tuned to accommodate different skin and hair types. Both men and women can enjoy the results of hair reduction and most parts of the body can be treated.

Q: How long does it take?

A: Each treatment will vary in time depending on the area being treated, but generally IPL treatments are fast and efficient compared to other hair removal treatments, because of the surface area of the treatment head.

Q: Why is the treatment referred to as 'reduction' and not 'removal'?

A: Although Laser & IPL treatments are effective on most people that are treated, some types of hair  are more difficult to treat.. On consultation we can tell you if this treatment is suitable for you and we will give you  an unbiased view of the likely success of your treatment.

Q: How does IPL hair reduction compare to other methods?

A: For many years the beauty industry has been offering a variety of hair removal treatments, ranging from waxing to electrolysis, however, the biggest revolution in this field came with the introduction of light based devices, such as laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), almost 1.5 million laser hair removal procedures were performed in the US in 2006, making it the third most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment behind Botox and filler injections.

Waxing, plucking and bleaching do not damage the hair follicle so re-growth is quick. The light system damages the hair follicle, so re-growth of the mature hair is minimal to none. Skilled electrolysis can be permanent if done well, but can be painfully slow, sometimes taking years to complete and has a high chance of scarring. The IPL system can target large areas of the skin surface, making it fast and effective.

Q. How much does it cost?

A. Laser / IPL equipment is a huge investment and treatments are costly to deliver and prices reflect this cost. They can start from £45 upwards depending on treatment needs.

Q. How is skin rejuvenation performed?

A: A thin layer of cool gel is applied to the area to be treated. The treatment head, which is a glass prism, is touched very lightly onto the skin. A flash of light is then emitted from the machine in to the skin. A slight snapping may be felt, but generally these treatments are painless. The gel is wiped away and normal activities can be resumed.

Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: Depending on the condition that is being treated and the severity of the problem, several treatments may be necessary for a good end result. Usually a series of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended, but good results can even be seen after one treatment. By dividing the program over several treatments, the procedure provides gradual improvements with very low risk.

Q: How do other treatments compare to skin rejuvenation?
A:
There are lasers that can target different problems on an individual basis, using individual light sources. However, the IPL system has a broad spectrum of light that provides the long term improvement of complexion and texture with its specialised 'skin rejuvenation' program- and all with any interruption to your day.

Q: What conditions can Skin rejuvenation treat?
A:
Facial imperfections or abnormalities can detract form your well being and appearance, no matter how healthy and young you feel. IPL technology helps create smoother looking skin. After a series of treatments you should see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation, caused by sun damage and photo-aging. IPL can also treat unsightly broken red capillaries and red blemishes, birthmarks, freckles and some types of acne scaring.
